About the practice

Hands-on support for active civil cases.

I started Ryan Litigation Support so attorneys can get experienced help with demanding casework without adding a full-time position.

The work

I get into the record and do the drafting.

I am based in New York City and currently work on active California civil matters. Most of my work involves written discovery, discovery disputes, pleadings, motions and oppositions, procedural and evidentiary research, witness development and filing-ready papers.

The work usually begins before formatting. I read the pleadings and record, identify what matters and develop the draft for attorney review. I am also available for remote assignments from New York firms.

Before moving into U.S. civil litigation, I spent nearly a decade as a regulated UK immigration adviser. That work involved evidence, written advocacy, direct client communication and hard deadlines. Those habits carried directly into litigation.

Working principles

How I work.

01

Read first, draft second

I first make sure I understand the assignment, the procedural posture and the important parts of the record.

02

Questions raised early

If I see a gap or have a question, I raise it early. You know where the work stands.

03

Ready for review

Drafts are clean and organized, with sources and supporting materials easy to check.

04

Handled discreetly

I treat case files and assignments as confidential firm work.
