How it works

A straightforward way to work together.

We agree on the assignment, timing and deliverable before I start. Counsel keeps control of strategy and final review.

01

Initial discussion

Talk through the need.

We discuss the matter, what needs to be done, the deadline and the form of the final work. At this stage, please do not send confidential details until conflicts and terms are addressed.

02

Scope and direction

Agree on the scope.

Counsel sets the strategy and priorities. The assignment can be one document, one phase of a case or continuing help across a caseload.

03

Focused work

I do the work.

I review the relevant pleadings, records and evidence with the purpose of the assignment in mind. I raise questions and material gaps as they come up.

04

Review and handoff

Review and handoff.

I deliver clean, organized work for attorney review, with the supporting sources, exhibits and open issues clearly identified.

Practical questions

Before we begin.

Who do you work with?

I work exclusively under the direction of attorneys and law firms. Services are not offered directly to the public.

Where is support provided?

I am based in New York City and work remotely. My current litigation experience is in California civil matters, and I welcome inquiries from New York firms.

Do you take one-off assignments?

Yes. Discrete projects, overflow assignments and continuing part-time engagements are all considered.

How are rates and timing determined?

I confirm the rate and timing after reviewing the scope, urgency and expected duration.
